Tallow

Ordinary humans — a dismissive, dangerous word.

Core Definition

Tallow is what The Rot calls ordinary humans: soft, useful, and meant to be burned. It is not an affectionate term. To be named Tallow is to be counted as fuel.

Why It Matters

Most of Aragost is Tallow and never knows it. They work, pay rent, and avoid certain alleys. The ones who learn the word usually learn it too late—which is why Dee works the doorways they have learned not to look at twice.

The World of Aragost

Step into a city that keeps its ledger.

Every soul in Aragost is written down. Add your name to the city’s ledger and you will be kept current—new dossiers, fresh hauntings, and the names of the recently dead, delivered as the rot spreads.
